Augments, similar to every other unit or item in the game, have their own Mastery Point cost. This cost, however, is tied to their Stage rather than a combination of their Tier and Stage, which is the case for Illuvials, Weapons and Suits. So a Tier 1 and Tier 5 Augment will both cost 20-30-40 Mastery Points. The power of the Augments however can fluctuate wildly per tier.
Augments can’t be placed in the same way as the Illuvials and Ranger. Instead, you will have to attach an Augment as a power-up to an Illuvial. An Augment has a variety of benefits that become more powerful and complex as their stage goes up. When attaching an Augment to an Illuvial, its effects should be carefully taken into consideration as you can only have 2 Augments equipped to a single Illuvial.
Augments have a wide range of uses. Their timing of effect differs between each one as well. Some Augments give you a heal whenever you assist in defeating an Illuvial. Some instantly give you extra Maximum Health (HP) when equipped, while others reduce the healing of enemy Illuvials.
Here is a list of potential applications:
Legendary Augments are powerful game-changers exclusive to Ascendant mode. Unlike regular augments, they can't be pre-selected in Team Builder. Instead, players have the opportunity to acquire them during specific rounds in a match. The first chance comes at the start of the game, followed by another after round three. During these rounds, players bid for the Legendary Augments they desire. The strategic impact of these augments is substantial, as they can significantly alter the flow of a battle. Players must adapt their strategies based on the available augments and also attempt to prevent opponents from obtaining crucial ones.
Before you are ready to go ham on exploring the slightly less impactful Augments in the game, you should try to fill your board with Illuvials. Synergies from Classes and Affinities can be as impactful if not more so than the Augments that an Illuvial can hold. After all, an increased Synergy will affect all the Illuvials on the board, especially with that specific Synergy. An Augment on the other hand only increases the strength of a single Illuvial. Teamwork is dreamwork, is it not? Well let me tell you, it surely is!
